A squash of peak-hour commuters sit in a train carriage. They would be a mob of commuters if they were moving under their own propulsion. Or a pride of commuters if they had better green credentials.

When the ocean floods the underground, they become a pod. And when they emerge from the dark to a post-apocalyptic future they become a colony.

The underground tunnels protected them from the worst of it. As the years pass and the population dwindles, they look back on the days when they were a squash with longing.

A scarcity of commuters is all that remains.
